Nice I love the narrative. Whatever was on the dropped out piece of paper reminded her of a past experience that she misses. Now that she is no longer living her native life she feels deprived and sad.
The foreign language must be the letter as a medium of communication. Molly is missing somebody and feels torn from the fact that their contact is so limited. Also, the flashback of when she's reading the letter does a volumes in terms of demonstrating her wistfulness.

The gesture she makes at the very end is just great. Not to dramatic, very gentle.
A clear, simple narrative, just enough info. Which text is it for?
Glad to see you're feeling well enough to post!
